What is a charette?
A charette is a fast-paced brainstorming session designed to create an original design solution to an issue. It is a powerful, quick, and engaging approach to illustrate how design and place-making abilities can benefit cities and their citizens.
What’s the theme?
Sustainable Transport Solutions for Egypt
What’s the design charette happening as a part of Cityscape Egypt all about?
Cityscape and RIBA believe that future architects play a critical role in achieving net zero design and sustainability and that they must be included at the forefront of discussions around these important topics.
Students from three RIBA-validated architecture courses in Egypt will participate in the event:
· AAST Alexandria
· AAST Cairo
· AAST Smart Village
Day 1: Friday, 22 September 2023
· The student teams will participate in a 4-hour brain-storming session to create and propose “one big idea or intervention” to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of designing sustainable transport solutions
Day 2: Saturday, 23 September 2023
· Live Design Review: Team leaders will present the proposals to the judges, and the audience with a live discussion and debate amongst each other
