Tomorrow's Leaders Awards Overview

Tomorrow’s Leaders Awards highlights the potential of architectural students currently studying in Egypt. The Awards provide an opportunity for students to display and present their projects to the visitors of Cityscape Egypt which will be taking place from 18 – 21 March 2020 at Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC).

This prize seeks to promote excellence in architectural design education by awarding the best graduating university/student projects in architecture and urban design.

The Awards is open to graduating students of universities from Egypt to showcase their talent.


Projects can be of varying scales, from the design of a small unit or building scale to an urban complex or master plan.

Submitted drawings should clearly define and demonstrate outcomes and how the project makes a significant contribution to the practice of architecture and urban design in terms of innovative design, use of technology, sustainability and energy, and urban spaces.

Entries should explain, with the support of sketches and drawings where appropriate, how the design solution addresses the following elements of the practice of architecture for current development trends and issues that will likely become more important in the future (e.g. climate change, resource efficiency, changes in economic activities, changes in ways of doing business, changes in modes of transport):

  • Innovation in building and urban design

  • Sustainability

  • Use of technology

  • Adaptability

  • Commercial/Cultural identity

  • Health and well-being

  • Students of shortlisted projects will have the opportunity to display and present their work to the visitors of Cityscape Egypt Exhibition

  • The winners will be presented with an Awards trophy at the Cityscape Egypt Exhibition

Submissions should answer all questions and provide supporting material which is instrumental in helping our judges to assess the projects.

Completed submission forms should be sent to before Monday 27th January 2020 5.30 pm EET.

You may only submit files in the following formats gif, jpg/jpeg, tif/tiff, word, pdf.



  • The Awards is open to full-time students enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate recognized program in architecture and urban design in Egypt.

  • Submissions must be graduating projects (individual or groups), completed during the 2019-2020 academic year

  • Project must be verified by the Head of Department of the program that the student is enrolled


First Judging Round

All submitted entries will be reviewed individually by the panel of judges and will form the basis for the shortlisted projects, which will be announced by Sunday, 23 February 2020.

Second Judging Round at the Cityscape Egypt  Exhibition

Display your project:

  • The shortlisted projects must be set up for display on 17th March 2020 at Cityscape Egypt exhibition, in the form of A0.

  • Judge’s Choice Award – judges will visit the competition area to assess the projects on Friday, 20 March 2020. Your team is required to be present during the judging process to explain your project to the judges

  • People’s Choice Awards, is voted by the visitors at the Cityscape Egypt exhibition. Contestants must-attend for all four days of the exhibition to explain their product to voters (18-21 March 2020)


The eventual winners will be announced on the last day of the exhibition Saturday, 21st March 2020 and presented at the Student Award exhibition stand.

  • Submission deadline by Monday 27th January 2020 5.30pm EET.

  • Shortlisted projects will be announced by Sunday, 23 February 2020

  • Shortlisted projects must be set up for display on 17th March 2020 at the Cityscape Egypt Exhibition
